Let’s talk romance!
Published Monday, November 5th 2012Don’t you think that each vacation you take with your spouse, significant other, or partner should include just a little romance? There are so many ways to incorporate romance in to your couples travel experience. As a couples travel concierge, I often get requests to work romance in to vacation experiences. Here are just a few ideas to get you started, the possibilities are endless!
Cruises – there are so many possibilities! On your traditional ocean cruises you can have a couples massage at the spa, make sure to book these in advance or immediately upon embarkation because they are popular and the time slots do fill quickly. The specialty restaurants onboard the ships tend to be smaller, quieter, and more intimate – this is the perfect opportunity for that romantic dinner. You should also consider river cruising! There is nothing quite as romantic as cruising the great rivers in Europe and experiencing that destination immersion as a couple. There are even itineraries with romantic names such as Romantic Danube, and Enchanting Rhine.
All Inclusive Resorts – let’s start with the resort choice! There are adult only resorts that cater to the romantic couples travel experiences. You can find anything from your own private plunge pool, in suite Jacuzzi’s, and butler service, to room service via a “magic box” where you don’t even have to answer the door and speak to the staff. The adult only resorts are romance through and through, but also have activities to suit anyone’s need for fun, adventure, and socialization. Let’s not mistake romantic for boring! If you are choosing a family oriented resort, no problem, you can still have your slice of romance. The spa is always a great option (think couples massage), or how about a nice romantic dinner on the beach for just the two of you?
Not a lot of time on your hands? Not a problem, how about a nice weekend getaway? There are plenty of options either a short flight or driving distance from where you live! How about the wine country? Napa and Sonoma both have some great boutique hotels that can serve as your home base for the weekend. In Texas, we are fortunate to have the Texas Hill Country – there are many options for that quick weekend getaway. Depending on where you live, we can find the perfect weekend romantic escape just for you.
Hopefully you will remember to incorporate a little of romance in your everyday living as well. Sometimes it is the little things we do for one another that really scream “I love you!” Before bed tonight, fluff the pillows for the one you love – it seems like a little gesture, but it is almost always noticed.
Feel free to share how you incorporate romance in your everyday life or how you turned your “trip” in to a romantic vacation experience.
